We are pleased to announce the launching of an online store “The Steelwool General Store” through the Steelwool site. This is a project that has been in the works for quite some time now, and it has finally come to fruition.

The concept behind the store (other than become filthy rich and buying ourselves a leer jet) was to bring some of the items from our brick and mortar shop to those of you who may be outside our area code.

What type of product will we have? Of course we will have some items that can be hard to find in other shops, for example we have one of the largest selections of Brooks saddles and accessories in Canada so of course there will be a fair bit of that available. But we will also be going beyond this scope of the traditional bike shop items.

Anyone who knows Thom or I will know that we are completely obsessed with gear, gadgets, bags and funky products. Things you might find in you the back of your jersey pocket, In the bottom of your bag while on your daily commute, stuffed in your pack heading out on a trip or expedition. I’m talking about everyday practical stuff. But cool stuff, quality stuff, and if we can find it, it will be made in Canada or the US.

We already have a number of cool collaborations lined up with local craftsmen and will be introducing a some really cool products over the next few weeks, there might even be a few of my own leather/waxed canvas products so stay tuned.

Ok so it’s been a little while since we’ve had a purely bike related post, but hey it’s the off season. That doesn’t mean we have been sitting around twiddling our thumbs, aside from working hard to launch the general store we have been designing custom bikes like mad. We should start to see painted frames rolling in over the next few weeks.

I have also just started up a custom 650b road frame for a customer which will be really sweet. Columbus Peggo Richie tubing, Rene Singer lugs, Paragon drop-outs, bi-plane fork crown etc. Here are some pics from the start of the process.

Will

Starting to get some exciting new products in for the up and coming general store. All made in North America with traditional materials, and using traditional artisanal methods. We also have some great collaberations with a few companies coming up too. Should have this all together and running by the end of the month.

Spent some time the last few days setting up a basic light box. Shooting items for the General store … coming soon. Pretty basic set up, pvc pipes, and white material and a few lights. Did the trick nicely though.
